About Me

My name is Jay Basile and i am a writer for the Rebel Yell at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I started this page for my journalism class where you can see all of my blogs. I began writing my junior year of high school and by my senior year I was the editor of the school paper. I won the most talented writer award at my high school and had three articles published in a county wide high school magazine called Class!I am now in my second year of college and my second year of writing for the Rebel Yell. I have officially been accepted into the journalism major at UNLV and am very excited to see how far I can go and what I can dig up.

My forte in writing is sports. I have covered both Mens and women’s basketball, baseball, and hockey at UNLV. My stories mostly consist of game recaps, but I have done profiles as well.

I am the type of journalists that is not afraid to roll up my sleeves in order to get a story. If it’s news I wanna know about it. This is my first time ever blogging and would appreciate any comments on how I could become a better blogger or writer.

On my blog you will be able to see the game recaps for the UNLV mens and womens basketball games before anyone else can publish it. As soon as baseball season starts you will be able to do the same as well.
